Accreditation

All graduating students must register with the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES)

To obtain approval to work as a  teacher in NSW you need to apply to the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards for a Statement of Eligibility for Accreditation to Teach. The institute will assess your qualifications in order to determine the subject(s) you are qualified to teach in NSW public schools.

How to reigister with the BOSTES

From Monday 5 January 2015 new and returning teachers will apply directly to BOSTES for provisional or conditional accreditation.

The new, simpler process will include:

  • creating an online account
  • completing an online application for accreditation
  • providing qualifications for assessment, and
  • applying for a Working with Children Check

The streamlined process for new and returning teachers and school staff is a result of recent amendments to the Teachers Accreditation Act 2004.
