Identification of Gifted Students

This workshop will focus on the identification of gifted students, as informed by the latest Australian and international research in the area. Teachers and educational leaders attending the session will be supported to develop of a program of identification of gifted students. Coverage will be given to legal/policy guidelines, traditional and non-traditional identification instruments, and optimal approaches to the implementation of a multiple criteria identification strategy.

Dr Jae JungAbout Dr Jae Yup Jared Jung

Dr Jung is a senior lecturer in the School of Education and a GERRIC senior research fellow. His research focus is on the decision-making of gifted adolescents on topics such as careers, university entrance and friendships, usually incorporating motivational and cultural perspectives. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in gifted education, and is supervising PhD students in various areas of gifted education. He is the editor of the Australasian Journal of Gifted Education.


Completing this workshop will contribute 6 hours of NESA Registered Professional Development addressing Standards 5.1.2, 5.4.2 and 5.5.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

**Please note that attendance for all hours is mandatory in order to receive accreditation. No partial attendance will be able to receive accreditation, so please plan your travel and commitments accordingly.
