Rebecca Collie, B.Ed. (Hons), M.A., Ph.D., is a Scientia Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Educational Psychology in the School of Education at the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Rebecca’s research interests focus on motivation, well-being, social-emotional development, and quantitative research methods. She also conducts research in related areas including adaptability, goal setting, and interpersonal relationships. She examines how these factors can be promoted, and their outcomes (e.g., greater achievement, job satisfaction) among both students and teachers in school and post-school settings. Rebecca completed her doctoral studies at the University of British Columbia in Canada. Previously, she worked as a primary school teacher in Melbourne.

Rebecca has published over 50 peer reviewed journal articles and chapters in leading outlets (e.g., Journal of Educational Psychology, Learning and Instruction, Child Development), along with a recently published co-edited book, "Social and Emotional Learning in Australia and the Asia-Pacific." Her work has been cited in OECD policy documents as well as by educational leaders, practitioners, and researchers nationally and internationally. She was also recently awarded the 2018 Young Scientist Award from the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development, which recognizes an early career researcher who has conducted programmatic research of distinction. Rebecca is part of a research team that recently won international funding from the European Commission to examine academic outcomes among migrant students, and she also runs several different research projects focusing on students, teachers, or both. She is Associate Editor of Educational Psychology and an Editorial Board Member for AERA Open, Educational and Developmental Psychologist, and Theory into Practice.
