Summer Institute on Language Learning 2012

The Summer Institute on Language Teaching aims to provide short courses for students, teachers and researchers who are keen on updating and /or extending their knowledge and skills.  Held from the 16th - 23rd January.  Accredited by the NSW Institute of Teachers.

Headed by Professor David Nunan and Professor Chris Davison, the Institute provides intensive sessions, led by prominent academics in the field of second language learning and teaching. The Institute comprises five masters level courses, taught by leading experts in the field.

Each course may be taken with or without assessment:

With assessment

  • Attend for 15 hours of face to face classes plus one session in December
  • Online interaction and structured group work
  • Complete 6000 words of graded assessment (made up of 2-3 tasks)
  • Enrol as a non-award course with the option of later obtaining credit towards a Graduate Certificate of Education or Masters of Education
  • OR Enrol now in one of the above programs

Without assessment:

  • Attend for 15 hours over one week maximum
  • Professional development

Weekday Courses 16th - 20th January

Please note that these courses are held concurrently, so at most, a participant can only attend one morning session, one afternoon session and one weekend session.

Morning (10.00am - 1.00 pm)

Afternoon  (2:00 pm - 5:00 pm)


Weekend Course 21-23 January

This course runs from 10 am to 5 pm on both Saturday (21 January) and Sunday (22 January), and 10 am to 1 pm Monday (23 January).  Snacks and weekend lunches are included in the enrolment


 

Fees

(For students registering for courses as professional development only)  The registration fee includes snacks and light tea for the participants.

Participants who pay for their enrolment before 30th November 2011 are eligible for early bird rates.
